INVITATIONAL FENCE WORK CHALLENGE

$170,000 COW HORSE CHALLENGE

Riders must qualify to compete in the $170,000 Cow Horse Challenge at either the NRCHA Stallion Stakes, Las Vegas, NV March 24 - April 4, 2022 or the NRCHA Western Derby, Scottsdale, AZ June 1 - 12, 2022. The top eight riders from each event will qualify to compete at TRFAM. This one-horse, one-rider competition is for Bridle horses only, based on NRCHA rules.

The National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) announced the top eight riders invited to The Run For A Million Cow Horse Event from the Teton Ridge Stallion Stakes qualifier.
Out of an 83-horse field, it took a 440 composite score to earn an invitation to the cow horse event, which will be held August 17-20. Nick Dowers riding Santiago Time, for owner Clinton Marshall topped the field with a 444 and secured a check for $8,835.
After an exciting run off between Scooter Kat, owned by Eric Freitas, shown by Justin Wright and Short N Catt shown by Phillip Ralls for owner Sarah Davis, it was Ralls and Short N Catt that secured the final spot.
The eight riders qualified are Nick Dowers from Dyer, Nevada, Todd Crawford from Blanchard, Oklahoma, Luke Jones from Allerton, Iowa, Kyle Noyce of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Corey Cushing of Scottsdale, Arizona, Randy Paul from Los Alamos, California, Shawn Hays of Weatherford, Texas, and Phillip Ralls from Paso Robles, California.
“It was a thrill to have so many great bridle horses in our arena vying for a spot at The Run For A Million,” said Anna Morrison, NRCHA executive director. “It’s exciting to see the recognition that events like this put on the finished bridle horse, the ultimate goal of reined cow horse sport.”
An additional eight qualifiers will be invited from the qualifier at the DT Horses Western Derby, in Scottsdale, Arizona, June 1-12. For more information on upcoming events visit nrcha.com.
